Ultimately, education in its real sense is the pursuit of truth. It is an endless journey through knowledge and enlightenment. -Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
It gives me immense joy to assert that St. Thomas Sr. Sec.
School has gracefully completed 36 years as a prominent learning centre. Students are the future policy makers who need great moulding and crafting to emerge as not only brilliant students but good human beings.
The pandemic had manifested a cascading impact on the critical sectors of the society, deeply affecting the young scholars in their learning process and academics.
During the online mode, the education sector has undergone some inescapable tectonic shifts that have changed the paradigms of pedagogy and learning to such an extent that the
scope of education got limited from being child-centric to being mobile-centric. The screen became the only fulcrum around which the entire process of education revolved,
with the notion of empowering our students using whatever resources were available.
Since the students were absolutely engrossed in the digital devices,
healthy screen time emerged out to be the biggest challenge to be dealt with, eventually, the prolonged screen viewing had its own set of repercussions for students as it affected them in
multiple ways like behavioural addictions, gaming disorders, attention deficit, anxiety and isolation from peers and friends. Bridging these gaps between online and offline knowledge
acquisition poses a great challenge for the teachers, who are putting constant endeavours to foster and nourish the learning style of the students.
It is at this juncture that the role of the parents
also becomes more crucial as the sole caretakers of their children at home. It is imperative that the parents must spare some significant time to navigate the phase of their child’s high dependence
on the screen and devices and assist the child in revisiting the screen habits for a healthier outlook. The cooperation from the parent community is highly solicited for carving out a bright
and excellent future of the children.
I would mention words of gratitude for all our teachers who elucubrated and remained committed to keep in tandem with the comprehensive technology-teaching
so that none of the students could be left behind the promising milestones and that lifelong learning opportunities for all become a reality in each discipline.
May God bless all!
